Òscar returns to the School for Young Talent a second time to conduct the Atheneum Kamerorkest in three Christmas concerts in The Hague’s Nieuwe Kerk.
As part of an ongoing collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague – School for Young Talent (Koninklijk Conservatorium Dem Haag – School vor Jong Talent), Òscar is very pleased to announce his return, this time to conduct the conservatorium’s Atheneum Kamerorkest in their three Christmas concerts.
Following the tradition of choosing a country as main theme for the concert, this year the festive programme is based around France. Featuring seasonal carols and well known works such as Fauré’s Pavane or Offenbach’s Barcarolle, the concert also includes the colourful and unusual Bizet/Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite for strings and five percussionists, and a little neoclassical jewel full of French aroma: Robert Planel’s witty -and occasionally melancholy- Trumpet Concerto.
Concert Dates:
The concerts will be held at the Nieuwe Kerk (Spui 175, The Hague) at 8pm on the 19th, 20th and 21st of December, 2016. The concert of the 20th will be recorded by TV West.
Programme:
Charpentier – Prélude from Te Deum
Fauré – Pavane op 50
Shchedrin – Carmen Fantasy for strings and percussion (highlights)
Offenbach – Barcarolle (La Vie est Belle)
Robert Planel – Concerto for trumpet and strings
Berlioz – Premier transports que nul n’oublie (from Romeo et Juliette)
Christmas carols: Douce Nuit, Noel Nouvelet, Quittez Pasteurs
