A unique, direct understanding of musical education
at the highest level, from the point of delivery
to the management board
Òscar has gained significant experience in a very wide variety of roles in very diverse music education institutions. As a teacher, his experience ranges from lecturing at the Royal Academy of Music, to conducting and coaching chamber music extensively at The Yehudi Menuhin School (where he lectured on aural training, harmony and analysis for over a decade), and guest lecturing and conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. This, together with his managerial experience as Director of Music at The Yehudi Menuhin School and as Dean of the Reina Sofía School of Music has provided him with a rare blend of skills, expertise and first-hand experience.
Dean at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (from 2020):
Òscar is the Dean at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid (Spain). Considered today one of the most prestigious music schools in the world, the Reina Sofía School of Music was founded by Paloma O’Shea in 1991 in order to provide young Spanish musicians with a first rate, broad and cosmopolitan artistic education. The Honorary President of the School’s Board is the Queen Mother of Spain, Queen Sofía. Since its beginnings, the School has been supported by very many great musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta and Alicia de Larrocha.
There, Òscar is reponsible for the musical direction of the School and its Academic programme and is privileged to lead an extraordinary group of great musical pedagogues which includes Günter Pichler, Zakhar Bron, Marco Rizzi, Nobuko Imai, Diemut Poppen, Ivan Moniguetti, J. P. Maintz, Radovan Vlatkovic, Jacques Zoon, Hansjorg Schellenberger, Dimitri Bashkirov, Galina Eguiazarova, Pascal Moragues and Duncan McTier.

There he conducted the orchestras and coached chamber music extensively, was artistic director of the The Menuhin Hall, and provided musical leadership to an outstanding team of internationally respected teachers.
